Long time no news update! Well, not much to report that hasn't been reported already ... Just visited w/ the guys @ the Ft. Lauderdale show. Sounds like the record label is looking to begin 'pushing' MFZB in January. We should see radio adds, a video and some other promotional material. I know some of you have had trouble finding the CD at your local stores . . . after this 'push' it should be much easier to find it!
Zebrahead are now back in Cali resting up. Look for some new tour dates soon!
Kurlee has officially retired! He announced in big news while the guys were in Japan. He going to puruse getting into the business of making guitars. Best of luck to Kurlee!
Sales in Japan have continued to skyrocket. The album has been certified Gold and last report was nearly 120,000 copies have been sold. Check out the videos at .tv and you'll see what it's like when the guys to go Japan!
That's it for now kiddies. Hope everyone has a great holiday!
Well, as I'm sure you've heard by now, the new album (due out in July of 2003) is titled 'MFZB.'
I'll be putting up sound clips AS SOON as I get the okay from the band . . . I PROMISE!
That's about it for now . . . make sure to check out ZH and KMK as they roll through your town (tour starting tomorrow!!)
The mixing is done and the guys couldn't be happier with the resuls! They are now getting ready for a 6 week NATION-WIDE TOUR that starts on 4/20/03. Before then, they'll be putting the finishing touches on the album (artwork, liners, etc.). As soon as I'm given the'okay' to upload the new clips, I will.
Quick news update.
Just talked to Ben today. Mixing started today. A week and a half left of mixing and then ALL 18 songs will be finished and ready to go!
After the mixing, a 6 week US tour is in the works. Keep checking back for the dates.
Here's a listing of most of the new songs:
Sorry for the lack of updates recently!
Just a quick news update. I've now heard 19 new demo songs and I haven't stopped listening since I got them. Think 'yellow' but a bit harder (lots of screams from ali). So so so good. I proimse you all it will be well worth the wait. They are almost done in the stuido!!
On the zh.org front. We should (hopefully) be getting the street team up and running again by the release of the new album. As it did last time though, it all depends on how much the record label is willing to help out. I will keep you all updated and if we do wind up promoting a bunch, we'll update the team and get some new members.
Also, look for a new webpage design coming soon. Nothing too crazy, but hopefully it'll be a bit more appealing to the eyes. I've recruited a zebraholic that is good at what he does and he's helping me with the designing. We'll see how it turns out.
Any questions about the new stuff . . . feel free to email me. And please dont' ask me to put up clips on the page . . . I can't. Also, I really want to get a new contest going, and have lots of cool/rare zebrahead shit to give away, but I've having creativness issues and can't think of a kick-ass contest. Any ideas, please send them my way.
Update from the studio! The guys are currently in the studio (finally) recording their 3rd major-label release!
I've heard the majority of the demo songs now. All I can say is that the painful wait for the new album has been worth it. You all will NOT be disapointed.
I'll put soundclips up of the demos (or of the newly recorded studio material) as soon as I get the okay from the guys.
In the studio, they are laying down 4 tracks at a time, then finalizing the songs (w/ mixing and everything else), then going back to record another four.
The first four songs are:hello tommorrow/ house is not a home/ over the edge/ let it ride
and the second four are: falling apart/ expectations/ the set up/ bunson honeydoo. Keep in mind that these aren't the real titles that you will see on the album . . . they just 'pre-name' the songs while they are recording to keep them straight.
Bass and drums are done on first four and half of rythem
guitars!
Keep it tuned to zebrahead.org for all of the new news and sound clips from the studio!
First the news from Zebrahead.tv
ben here with a little update for ya on the going's of zebrahead.....first off thanks to all who came out to the
house of blues show....as usual you guys rocked the house...a crazy crowd makes the show that much
better to play......the after show party for the MFZB club members was absolutely crazy.....so many people there.....and to
make things even better we just finshed another batch of demos...and yes they rock...did i say they rock
yet...okay as you can tell i am in a good mood...cause i think we are finally going to record the album
now.....we have decided that we have the songs that WE like now....and are ready.....so look for updates
and photos from the studio to be starting up in the next month or so.....but hey did i tell you the new
songs rock....oh yeh i did already....talk to ya soon....and thanks again for supporting and sticking with us
ben and the whole zebrahead crew
Now some news on the dot org front . . . sorry about the lack of updates recently. I realize that there isn't much going on in the zebrahead world right now, but an update every month isn't good enough. I will try to do my best to be more consistant . . . I've just been VERY busy with work and other things going on right now that I have little time in front of my computer these days!
The trip to cali for the house of blues show was amazing. It was the first time I had see the boys in california and it was great seeing them in front of a home crowd where EVERYBODY in the entire crowd knew the words! I was sorry that I didn't run into more of you there! I was on the stage for the show (saw Lizzy in the front row!) and just hung out and milled around backstage and on the 'patio' for a while after the show.
Though I came prepared with 3 rolls of film, my camera battery died about 2 minutes before the curtain went up. I did take 2 'backstage' pics, but haven't gotten them developed yet. I was pissed b/c I expected to come back w/ 100 new pics for this site . . . oh well . . . the cookie crumbled or some shit.
Other than the show, my girlfriend and I had an amazing time in Cali. Went to the beach with Ben and Elizabeth on Friday. Went to dinner w/ Ben, Elizabeth, G, Justin, and a few of their friends friday night . . . then went to a pretty sweet bar in Fullerton somewhere. Had a ton of fun the entire time we were in california, as is always the case when we get to hang out w/ the boyz. Getting to see Spoo Doggy Dogg and Sal from Downinside was a nice unexpected bonus! It had been forever since I had seen either of them.
On the music front, I've heard all of the first 'batch' of demos (songs from the clips you are hearing @ zh.tv) and will be getting the second batch of demos shortly. You all WILL NOT be disapointed. For those of you that have heard the new songs live, they are HEAVY and more raw . . . like back in 'the yellow' days. Nice. I'll have studio updates and sound clips up as soon as I get the thumbs up that I'm allowed to do so.
That's it for now zebraholics . . . keep on visiting . . . good things to come in the (very) near future including a new contest!!
Not much news for now, but I just wanted to let you all know that I'm going to California to visit the guys for their House of Blues show on 8/3/2002 and will be coming back with a TON of new pictures and several HUGE news updates. So keep checking back!! Also, check out the new show dates. Zebrahead has been added to the motocross 'unleash the freaks' tour!

Sorry for the lack of news updates. Been busy with work, plus there hasn't been much going on w/ zebrahead other than writing new material and playing a few shows here and there. I promise you all the latest up-to-date news when they start recording again (VERY VERY soon!)
Here's some news from Zebrahead.tv to hold you over!

ben from zebrahead
(From Zebrahead.tv)
Just got a news update from the band . . . first thing I have to correct the last news update. Zebrahead is NOT currently in the studio. They are currently writing songs in their practice space BEFORE going into the studio. With that said, here's the news update from the guys:
"we are still locked away writing new songs....and will be for a LONG while but will be taking a small break in december to play some shows.....dates and cities to be announced on this webpage soon.....we just can't handle not playing any shows for this long....damnit... in other news we will have the song "check" on the tony hawk 3 video game...not on the soundtrack album coming out on maverick in the actual game.....it seems to have some cool bands such as AFI and Motorhead....i might even have to buy playsatation 2 just to play it myself....but i am a cheap broke sucker..... i think that's about it for right now....but steve should know more soon......usually before i do...."
Zebrahead plans on recording 20-40 'rough' demos before deciding which songs to actually record in the studio. I'll update you more on what to expect from the new material when I hear the demo songs (within the next month or two). From what I've heard so far, they have 18 songs now, more of a rap direction, like a mix of the yellow and waste of mind. Sweet.
That's it kiddies. Not much more news until the demo tracks are all laid down, or there are a few shows to announce.
Take care of yourself and someone else.
Wow, it's been a long time since the news has been updated!! Sorry about that, but when ZH is in the studio, there's usually not much new news until some of the tracks are laid down. Here goes anyway:
Zebrahead is currently in the studio recording their 3rd major label release on Columbia Records. More details on the album (track titles, producer, # of tracks, type of sound, how things are going, etc.) as SOON as I get an update from the guys.
Japan and Europe went really, really well (as usual). Zebrahead played to their biggest crowd ever (approx. 75,000+) at the festival in Japan. Kinda weird to be playing on the same stage w/ bands like slipknot and Marilyn Manson . . . but everything went off without a hitch. In Germany, the shows w/ Green Day went great and everybody treated zebrahead really well over there. For a pretty sweet interview with Justin & Ali that was done when they were in Europe, make sure to check out the multimedia section!
You'll see that a lot of zebrahead shirts have been removed from Zebraheadstore ! Apparantly, Quaker Oats (owner of gatorate and several other companies) wrote a letter to Tommy Matola (pres. of Sony Music) asking that the shirts be discontinued because it was 'stealing' money from their company. What a crock of shit. Oh well . . . if you have one of these shirts, consider it a collectors item. Look for more shirt designs COMING SOON at zebraheadstore.com!
Lastly, for all you skate/videogame fans, the press release for the soundtrack for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (due out in 11/2001) has been announced! Yup . . . the boys are in there!! In case you've been living under a rock, the Tony Hawk series of video games has become one of the most popular video games to date! It is GREAT exposure for Zebrahead to be included in this SWEET game! Here are the bands/tracks that will be included in the game:
That's about it for now. I'll call the guys soon and get a big update from the studio!
Hey zebraheaders . . . just got back from a weekend w/ the ZH boys and there isn't as much new news as I hoped there'd be. Or maybe I just drank away all of the new news that I learned. Oh well, here goes:
Zebrahead will NO LONGER be appearing on the wrestling soundtrack (what they were writing 'you can't bring me down' for). Turns out that the copany that was putting it out send them the framework of a song that THEY wrote and wanted zebrahead to do it.
Zebrahead had the option to do it for the money, but they turned it down b/c they didn't want to put out a song with their name on it that they didn't write themselves.
The re-release of playmate of the year (as seen in the news below) is probably not going to happen. Though they WILL be putting out the video or dvd that was supposed to be coupled with the rerelease sometime in the near future.
Greg said that they have written the music for about 20 new songs, but they have no lyrics or anything yet.
Ed and Kari are getting married on 8/4 and then the guys have a few weeks off before leaving for Japan. They'll be in vegas for the Reel Big Fish show on 8/9 . . . so if you are going, be on the lookout!
After Japan and Europe, it's time to head back into the studio to record their third major-label release. They hope to have the album out by February, but you all remember what happend with 'playmate.' I wouldn't expect a february release . . . but who knows. Look for a harder edge with this album as they plan to have a more raw feel this time. A harder/less (over)produced edge . . . more like the yellow album.
That's all I can remember kiddies. I will give them a ring during their time off and get the scoop on any new news before the leave for Japan.
Quick news update . . . this news is from zebrahead.tv ! I just haven't had any free time to get in touch w/ the guys recently to get the scoop on the new news. I PROMISE that this will be updated more VERY shortly.
6/19/01-Playmate Of the year will be Re-Released in a limited edition form this Holiday season, it will be a double disc with 2 bonus tracks "Hero" & "Whats going On Remix", The 2nd disc will be a DVD of Live Stuff & ZH's Videos. This is all in the works & planning stages so don't shoot me if i'm wrong.
6/3/01- Band Is working hard on new songs for the next LP 15 demos are already layed down, + some others they have been working on over the year. The WWF Song is awesome, Hopefully it will be out soon for everyone to hear. This upcoming tour Yell out (Wrestling Song) so they play it LIVE. 3 New Awesome Shirts will be coming out before the tour & After summer sounds like there will be a killer tour Lined up!!!! Thats It for now!!
5/23/01- ZH is Writing A song for the WWF, The finishing touches on the demo is being made right now. This song is different from the one you may have heard live!
5/16/01 -Zebrahead are writing new songs right now for there 3rd LP. There will be lots more touring in the summer & probably til decemeber of next year.If you go to the shows you may here a couple of new tracks this summer!
Just a quick news update:
Zebrahead recently left for a west coast tour with sprung monkey and grand theft audio. They will be headlining all dates on this leg of the tour. So far, the shows have been great. Much thanks to you all who have gone out and supported this sweet lineup!
Starting around the first week in May, zebrahead will be leaving for a nation-wide tour. While no dates, cities or venues have been confirmed yet . . . I can tell you this: 4 bands (zebrahead will be 2nd highest on the food chain) and it will be an AMAZING lineup! Keep checking back for details about this tour . . . they should be up by mid-next week!
Other than that, not much is new. Still waiting to hear if and when the new single will be released. Ben and I have also been talking about getting the street team up and running again (WITHOUT the record company this time) so all street teamers be on the lookout. We might be asking for updated info from you very very soon.
Sorry so long since the last news update, but there hasn't been much going on since the 311 tour ended!
3 Newsworthy items, then I'm out:
1) Zebrahead's "Playmate of the Year" went gold in Japan (100,000 copies) earlier this year!
2) Zebrahead is leaving for Japan in early February to play a few shows to sold out crowds there! After they return, look for a small west coast tour in late feb./early march, then another nation-wide tour starting in april. Dates and supporting bands to be named soon!
3) While zebrahead is in Japan, they will be releasing a CD over there called 'Stupid Fat Americans.' This is an import only (you will probably be able to find it online for sale, but it will be expensive)! Artwork and track listing can be found on the
discography page!
