Some quick news. The 311 tour is winding down and everything is going amazingly well. I was on tour for 4 days with the guys . . . and the crowds have been nothing-but-amazing to them each and every night. Zebrahead will be playing a few festival shows in December, and will probably hit the road again in early January before leaving for Japan again in February. Keep it tuned in here for the latest tour information!
Zebrahead has written a new song while on the road, and they all agree that it is one of their favorite songs they have written. The song is called 'you can't bring me down' and it was written for a wrestling soundtrack that will be coming out early next year. The song should also be featured on the new Japanese release which will be coming out about the same time they tour there (the regular POTY CD with a few extra tracks). They first performed the song in boston on 11/5 and the crowd ate it up!
Check out the new issue of 'revolver' magazine (w/ U2 on the cover). It features Zebrahead in a fashion layout with the playmates!! 6 full pages of the boyz kickin it with the bunnies!! If you can't find the magainze, you can just click below for the pictures.
Zebrahead is also featured in the new adam sandler movie 'little nicky.' Unfortuantely, they aren't on the sountrack, but they ARE in the movie. Check out the movie and listen for 'now or never' . . . you can't miss it!!
That's it for now boys and girls. Thanks for supporting this page, and zebrahead!
Just a quick news update. Spoke to Ben yesterday and he said the 311 tour is going very, very well. Obviously, all the shows have sold out, and the 311 fans are treating zebrahead very, very well. Omaha Nebraska (311's hometown) went off the two nights they were there.
The fans were asked to vote for which single they wanted to see released next (to give their record label an idea) and 'What's going on?' was the winner. We'll have to wait and see if they take the fans suggestions, or go out on their own on that one.
The Craig Kilborne show which zebrahead was on was RERUN last night. Not quite sure why, but if you watched the show, you'd think it was because of the overwhelming response for zebrahead from the crowd there.
Well, that's it for now. I'm leaving to tour w/ the guys for 3 shows (NY, Phili, Boston) next thursday, so i'll have tons of stories, pics and videos when I get back!!
Hey zebraheaders . . . just a quick news update . . . then some info about press and media breaks for the guys.
The tour with Wheatus just ended and nearly every show sold out! The guys said the whole tour was amazing . . . now they are home resting up before the 311 tour which starts w/ the smoke out festival on 10/7.
Playmate of the Year debuted in the top 125 in billboard magazine and was #4 on the HEATSEAKERS chart!! So far, the album is selling approx. 4x better than did waste of mind, and sales figures keep increasing each week!

Some News From Japan:
1. Release was yesterday, August 02.
2. The guys are there now doing promo / interviews.
3. 2 weeks ago, the single debuted on the Japanese International Radio
charts at
# 53. Last week, it was at # 13. We are hopeful it will reach # 1 this
week. Stay Tuned...
4. Sales in Japan are different. What a retail store orders is what they
consider "sold." There is no returning unsold c.d.'s there and there is
no soundscan, so the initial orders, or their "Sales" are 25% more than
they hoped for. Maybe Gold in Japan???
5. We are going for radio adds in America this week. EVERY PLEASE START CALLING RADIO STATIONS!!
Included in this press release below is most of the news that I've been wanting to relate to you all for a while. It's time to drop the ZH bomb on the world. Here we go:
Columbia Records & Playboy Team Up On Promotions For New Single & Album
Columbia Records and Playboy Enterprises have entered into an innovative
cross-promotion for Playmate Of The Year, the eagerly-awaited new album from
zebrahead, due in stores on August 22. The song's title track is the album's
first single and video.
Recorded in Los Angeles, produced by Howard Benson (P.O.D.) and mixed by Chris
Lord Alge (Green Day, Fastball), Playmate Of The Year features special guest
turns from members of Lit, Reel Big Fish and No Doubt as well as a variety of
humorous sketches and hidden tracks. Following the release the group's last
album Waste of Mind, zebrahead performed throughout America with the likes of
the Offspring, Cypress Hill, Sugar Ray, Kid Rock and was featured on last's
year's highly successful Vans Warped Tour. zebrahead is already on tour in
support of the new CD.
When staging a photo shoot for the album's packaging, zebrahead found
themselves
in front of the lens with the Playmate of the Year 2000, Miss Jodi Ann
Paterson,
as well as several other Playmates, in the same house in Los Angeles where
Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" was shot. Looking around at the mind-blowing
feminine beauties gathered for the shoot, one of the members of zebrahead was
overheard saying "This is the happiest day of my life!"
Rapper Coolio caught wind of the shoot and decided he really needed to hang
out
with zebrahead that day. He showed up unannounced, prompting the following
exchange between zebrahead vocalist Justin "Goldtoof" Mauriello and the
rapper:
Justin (surrounded by Playmates): "Wow!"
Coolio (in response to "Wow!") : "Word!"
Anticipation for Playmate Of The Year, zebrahead's eagerly-awaited follow-up
to
1998's Waste Of Mind, is already running hot, with several cross-promotional
stunners in development:
Playboy is planning to include ONE MILLION (!) CD singles/CD-ROM versions of
"Playmate Of The Year" into the magazine later this year.
The band will be staging in-store appearances with selected Playmates.
zebrahead will also throw after-show parties along the group's August tour
route
to help promote Playboy's October issue.
Two versions of zebrahead's "Playmate of the Year" rock video, featuring Jodi
Ann Paterson and other Playmates, are in the works: a PG-version for the MTV
audience and an alternate au naturel edition to be seen exclusively on the
Playboy Channel. The video will be shot at the Playboy mansion in late July.
The Playmate Of The Year CD booklet will feature sizzling exclusive images of
the Playmates and much more. The images will also be used in a postcard
campaign for radio, retail, and consumers as well as on a calendar
highlighting
important dates in the history of zebrahead and Playboy.
Finally, zebrahead will perform at an End-Of-The-Summer Blowout party at the
Playboy mansion. Radio listeners, visitors to www.zebrahead.com and
www.playboy.com, and retail consumers will be able to win a chance to be flown
to the mansion to get down with zebrahead, the Playmates, and the Playmate Of
The Year. One lucky winner may even win a chance to escort a Playmate to the
event.
The Rabbit Head design and Playmate of the Year are marks of Playboy and used
with permission.
Just a small news update. Talked to Ben on the phone last night. The album title has been changed to 'Playmate of the Year.' Details on the photo shoot and new news about the album coming soon. The title track and first single have been aired on the radio once (when Zebrahead went in to do an interview) and should be ready for radio airplay by Mid-to-late June. Of course, I will let you all know when it's been sent out to the radio stations so you all can call in and request to hear the new ZH!
The cover song that I have been telling you all about WILL NOT be apearing on 'POTY.' But it will be featured for download exclusively on this webpage by the end of the week. It's the spice girl's 'wannabe' ('tell me what ya want what ya really realy want, etc etc). Hella funny. Keep checking back . . . it'll be up soon!!
Zebrahead starts a tour with the Kottonmouth Kings in early July which will go until Late July or early August. Some tour dates are up on the webpage right now . . . more will be added soon. All are probable, but not are deffinately confirmed yet. After KMK, ZH has another tour planed with another band (details coming when I'm free to speak).
I have some more album news, but I have to keep on the wraps until everything is confirmed (I don't want you all to get too excited just to be let down). So keep it tuned in here and you'll see some new shiznit popping up soon!
Oh yeah, new tentative release is first week in August (I know . . . it sucks).
That's it! Keep keepin' it real!
Just a small update to satisfy your cravings for the latest ZH info:
In case you didn't notice, this webpage has moved servers to www.zebrahead.org! Pretty dope eh?? This means a faster server for you all, and unlimited space for me! Woo hoo =)
Zebrahead's new album is now tentatively titled 'reggie.' Not sure why the possible change in name, but their management has asked me to report to you all that this is now just a tentative title. It may stick, it may not. We'll have to wait and see.
The new release date is the last Tuesday in July. As you can imagine, this isn't confirmed or guaranteed. But it is now what they are shooting for.
The special guest from a major band that you all have been speculating about is confirmed. It is AJ Poppof from Lit, who sang on a song called "what's goin' on?' which was mixed on Friday 5/5. Pretty dope eh?
Also, the special guest on horns are the guys from reel big fish who appear on the song 'livin' libido loca' (tentatively titled). Dope-ass guests from dope-ass bands . . . what more could you ask for??!
2 More quick things . . . the video for 'playmate of the year' (the first single) is going to feature a ton of hot girls in bikini's (surprise, surprise) which is good news for the guy (and maybe some girl?) zebraheaders out there!
There is also rumors floating around that the band will be flying a few lucky fans out for their CD release party . . . more details on this to come later if it all works out!!
That's it kiddies. Keep it tuned here for new 'reggie' updates in a bit!
Got a ton of new news from Ben today: Here goes kiddies!!
All of the tracks for Reggie are finally done being recorded. They can't emphasize enough how happy they are with the way things have turned out. The process took so long because they were changing things until the very last moment to make it that much better. Ben says "one hundred times happier than the last album.....and no worries to people that think we went soft....this shit is a little heavier and weirder than the last album."
They begin mixing with Mix Master Chris Lord Algae ('Waste of Mind') on Wednesday. This process shouldn't take too long.
The photo shoot for the album artwork is in three weeks. Then it's just a matter of printing and marketing everything, and you'll see 'Reggie' in stores! An exact release date still isn't known, but they are hoping for Mid-June.
Oh yeah, they still have to record one song . . . a secret cover song which they are recording this Sunday. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You all are gonna love this!
That's it for now. Sound clips will be up on this webpage as soon as the mixing is done, so keep checking back!!
Here are a few more tidbits about 'Reggie' that should satisfy your thrist for new news until I have time to relay some more:
- Possible major porn star to guest on the album (POSSIBLE)
- Possible guest on the album from a MAJOR band
- Guest from No Doubt Key Board Player
- Guest from Reel Big Fish horn section
I know it isn't much, but at least it's something ;)
More news coming SOON!!
Ok, Ben called 2nite with some much-anticipated news. I was on my way out the door though, so we only talked for about 5 minutes. We're going to talk again later this week, so I'll have a lot more news, and a lot more detail then. But I still got some goodies 2nite. Here goes:
The album STILL isn't finished yet (recording-wise). About 4 songs still don't have vocals, and they are changing arrangements and parts of some of the completed songs already. But the album HAS to be done by Thursday, so they are workin their asses off to meet the deadline. After the recording is done, then comes the mixing, artwork, etc. They are still prediciting a late may/early June release, but (if you can remember that far back), 'waste of mind' was pushed back a few times . . . so it looks like the new album might be as well. I will keep you up to date with that.
The first single from the new album is called 'Playmate of the Year.' You'll obviously be hearing this song on the radio well before the album is out . . . so I will also let you know about that. If you ask me to describe the song . . . all I can say is 'woooo (justin)' 'yeah (Ali).' This may seem odd right now, but remember that I said this, and when you hear the song, you WILL know why.
Ok, now for the good stuff. Inside information, and you get it here FIRST. The new album's title is 'REGGIE.' That's right, Reggie. You might be thinking, 'what the fuck??!' Well, that's exactly the point, and that's all I have to say about that. It really is called 'Reggie' though . . . no lies. The new cover art will (more than likely) feature a hot chick (surprise surprise) mowing the lawn, with a fat guy in a lawn chair watching her.
Leave it up to the ZH boyz to come up with some phunky concept like calling their album 'reggie.' Who knows, I'm confused . . . but I guess that's the point.
That's all for now zebraheaders. As I said, bigger news update coming later this week when I have more time to talk the the guys (mid-terms are a bitch ya know).
Don't forget to enter the march contest , and keep those suggestions a-comin'!
Just a small news update:
The show @ 369 on 1/23 w/ Lit went really well. Sold the place out. They played about 4 or 5 new songs . . . all sound DAMN AMAZING!
The music for the new album is done. They are heading back to LA this week and next to do vocals. Then, the album needs to be mixed, promoted, etc, etc etc. Still got a long way to go, but they are hoping for a Mid-May release. I'll keep you posted.
Just spent about a week with the guys in their studio in LA . . . so I guess I have a lot of news to tell you all. I'll spare you all the details of my trip, and instead just relate the 'business' part of the trip that I'm sure you all are more interested in.
Zebrahead is now in their third week in the studio. The new album has two TENTATIVE titles (neither will probably be used): 'Music Today . . . Burgers Tomorrow' & 'Music For The Asses.' The week that I was there, they were just laying down the drum tracks, but all were completed by the time I finished. Next, Ben will lay down the bass, then G and Justin with guitar, and finally Ali and Justin will do vocals. Then comes editing, mixing, mastering etc . . . so this album still has a long way to go! Zebrahead should be out of the studio by mid-to-late February though, and might start playing shows again around that time!
Most of the songs didn't have lyrics yet, so song titles were out of the question. They do call each song something though (so they and the producer/engineer can be on the same page when talking about the songs). A few of the song titles that I can remember are (REMEMBER, THESE AREN'T GOING TO BE THE REAL SONG TITLES): Jump around town, Get back 2, La Habra Hardcore, The Ben and Ed Song, and Livin' Libido Loca.
This trip, I mostly took videos and not pictures, so, unfortunatly, I can't really put those up on the website. I did take about 10 pics though, and when I get those developed, I'll throw em up.
I'm sure that there's more news that I just can't think of right now. If you all have any questions, just email me and ask . . . I should know the answers.
